Martins World Episode 39 with Selina Stein Fibromyalgia patient
Listen now
Description
Selina Stein is a fibromyalgia patient in the UK who uses cannabis to treat the symptoms of her condition.  Selina is now one of many patients being discriminated against in the UK due to their laws around cannabis and driving. Selina has a prescription for her cannabis use but the UK laws on driving have not been adjusted to accommodate for this. Currently the UK laws remain as a no tolerance limit meaning the limit is set to almost the lowest detectable amount and not to a limit which would reflect impairment.    As Selina is a long time consumer of cannabis due to her condition the police had her car marked as being driven by a person under the influence of Cannabis. The cops pulled her in due to this and not due to any signs of dangerous driving.  She has since been brought to court and lost her driving license however she intends to appeal the case to set a legal precedent for other medical cannabis patients in the UK and help reduce the discrimination they face.  Selina needs to raise £5000 to bring her appeal to the high court and she is currently being helped by the Seed Our Future campaign.
