THE POWER IN HER VOICE
Listen now
Description
MDFEME is committed to making the voices of those who have been ignored and silenced heard! In this episode Mrs Wilma King Bennett tells her story. She allows herself to be vulnerable and share her experience so that the cycle can be broken. Black women are categorically ignored and we have too many stories of patient experiences where they felt ignored, not heard, or their pain was minimized, or they weren't involved in their plan of care.  Implicit Bias and Structural Racism can affect the doctor patient interaction in many ways.  Advocating for the underrepresented and marginalized is impossible if we don't listen.   We decided to use our platform to give narratives like hers a place to be heard. We discuss her views on the COVID vaccine and her recent life changing diagnosis.  #LISTENTOBLACKWOMEN #BLACKWOMEN #DOCTOR #EVERYBODYVSRACISM #IMPLICITBIAS #CANCER #POWEROFTHEMIND #TRAUMA #EMPATHY #PATIENTVOICE #LISTEN #CHANGE #HEARD #NARRATIVE #HERNARRATIVE #HERVOICE  (Episode recorded live so the sounds of the city are present) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mdfeme-inc/support
