Valuable study and commentary
There are many things we can learn listening to “Memory Wars.” Understanding that teaching American history including stories and facts that are uncomfortable, is not about making our children “feel bad.” It is about teaching what really happened so that we do not repeat the same horror—over and over. We enable our children to get beyond the over simplified, white washed narratives of “good versus bad” whereby “we “Americans” are never the “bad guys.” Our children can learn and better understand that no nation, no government is “without Sin.” Humanity itself is a species that is capable of great goodness and possibility. But humanity is also capable of great evil and destruction. When we hide our flaws we lessen the possibility of building on our goodness.

I am consistently excited for each episode to come out. Desperately waiting. Such an important educational parallel! A surprisingly approachable listen for all kinds of folks. Relatable and understandable. But not withholding the truth and discomfort. I have all my friends and family listening!
