07: Building Into the Next Generation with Ryan Gillespie
Listen now
Description
In this episode, Chris Rivers, Ryan Gillespie and Scofield Foster discuss how serving as a small group leader in student ministry creates room for life change. Ryan shares a period of time in his life when he was not serving in the local church. He admits he was more of a consumer and was struggling to get plugged in. Ryan had the benefit of a friend calling him out on this and challenging him to get involved. This was a pivotal point in Ryan’s walk with the Lord.  He decided to serve in student ministry and was placed with a group of 8th grade boys.  He has been with this group for the past 5 years. Ryan shares how his decision to serve and take on the responsibility for someone else’s growth was critical for his own spiritual growth. Share, listen and then discuss the application, key ideas, and scripture references in a one on one conversation or with a group of men. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2 NLT RESOURCES MENTIONED: Men’s Roundtable: This teaching can be found by visiting: gracechurchsc.org/mrt Student Ministry: Information regarding Grace Church’s Student Ministry can be found by visiting: https://gracechurchsc.org/connect/next-generation/students Find serving opportunities at Grace Church: https://rock.gracechurchsc.org/InterestForm Join a men’s roundtable study by finding a campus near you and register for Authentic Manhood by visiting: gracechurchsc.org/mrt If you know a man that would benefit from hearing this episode, share it with him.
