On April 30th, 2010, Shannan Gilbert called 911 from Long Island, running from a client’s house screaming before she disappeared into thin air. Half a year later, police searching for Shannan found the bodies of four other sex workers along Ocean Parkway on Gilgo Beach. Six more victims would be discovered on Long Island’s south shore by the end of 2011. For over a decade - and potentially longer - the Long Island/Gilgo Beach serial killings were unsolved. But on July 13th, 2023, police announced they’d arrested Long Island architect Rex Heuermann for three of the murders - bringing hope that finally, LISK’s victims will receive justice.
