thorough and enjoyable
sometimes a little too long to practically listen to in one go and a bit too technical to drop in and out of. but i can hardly criticise them too harshly for providing too much of a good thing. all in all, v enjoyable. it’s easy to characterise the podcast as about the co-hosts’s disagreement on consciousness but the thing that really makes this podcast work is that the co-hosts represent the two extremes of how to do philosophy discussion. maybe something of a simplification but roughly speaking keith frankish’s approach is “on the face of it we appear to disagree very substantially but let’s see if we can’t find some interesting common ground” whereas philip goff’s approach is more like, “at least one of us is wrong, let’s scrap this out.” i think that having both approaches means you get a much clearer and thorough exploration of the interviewees’s views than you would otherwise.

Great to listen to civil philosophical debate. Whether you follow everything or not you’ll learn about the art of argument and learning.
