Listen now
Description
Freya Lewis was just three metres away from the bomb that exploded at Manchester Arena on 22nd May 2017, leaving her with catastrophic injuries. Freya’s best friend 14-year-old Nell Jones, who she’d been with at the Ariana Grande concert, was tragically killed in the attack. Freya spent five and a half weeks at Royal Manchester Children’s hospital, where she underwent 70 hours of surgery and began the process of learning to walk again. Despite the unimaginable heartbreak, the 16-year-old has shown remarkable resilience and courage, even turning her attention to helping others by raising £60,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and encouraging people suffering with mental health difficulties to speak out and seek support. In this inspirational interview Freya shares her incredible story with Lawrence Jones MBE. She talks about what’s kept her looking forward, how she has found strength in adversity and the dreams she now has for her future.
