MK318 The Selenadad! (Hispanic/LatinX Heritage Month, Remembering 9/11, AOC at the MET Gala, Fun Facts About Selena, Branqueamento/Blaquemento)
Listen now
Description
We unpack our trouble revisiting the tragedy and trauma of 9/11 whilst still enduring a current tragedy/trauma. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went to the Met Gala, and like anytime she does anything, it caused a stir. It’s Hispanic Heritage/LatinX month! We cover it’s origins, and explore why some Afro Latinos don’t consider themselves Latino, and why some Millennials are calling out the Anti Blackness of Latinidad, along with the history of white washing in South America. Then we have fun facts about the legend, the icon herself: Selena!
