“I have a love-hate relationship with this podcast at times - sometimes I have to pause an interesting episode against my will. When they nail it, they really nail it. The information is relevant and interesting when it is being delivered. But the dichotomy between Julia and Lauren is stark. There’s times you have to make it through a well-researched and composed Julia episode while Lauren just screams ‘Get OUT!’ and ‘Shut UP!’ at every fact revealed or lots of interjections of ‘ughhhh’ and ‘ehhhh’. There’s very little added value in these frequent occurrences and they drag the episode out.
Julia’s quizzes are always thoughtful but Lauren rarely picks up on her Jeopardy-style hints in clues and easy trivia goes begging for a response which is extremely frustrating as a listener. Saying “I know this” and not coming up with even a reasonable guess is just not it.”
