Episode 12: TALK. ABOUT. MENTAL. HEALTH. w/ Allison Hill
Listen now
Description
Our friend Allison Hill is back to discuss mental health representation in the world of sports! The girlies chat about how so many athletes struggle with mental health issues yet so few speak up about it, and that the best way we can work to destigmatize it is through three words: TALK ABOUT IT. We also look at mental health and sports through the lens of a fan, talking about hyperfixations and how social media users need to "let people enjoy things." Sports is oftentimes a way for people to escape, so please be respectful to all fans-- even the bandwagoners!  If you or a friend are struggling with your mental health, please reach out to a professional or call a crisis hotline- USA: 1-800-273-8255; Canada: 1-833-456-4566.   This is the second episode in our anti-hate series! Throughout the month of June, we're tackling underrepresented topics in sports such as homophobia, racism, sexism, and mental health representation. A reminder that this podcast is a safe space for all, and we are here for you no matter what.   PS-- Follow us on Twitter (@mittsandchicks), Instagram (@mittsandchickspod), and TikTok (@mittsandchicks)!!! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mittsandchicks/support
