Listen now
Description
As the Israel-Hamas war approaches 50 days, we are speaking with voices from both sides of the war to gain insight into the realities on the ground.  In this episode, Mosheh speaks with Khalil Sayegh. He was born and raised in Gaza, then lived in the West Bank, and is now in the US, where he recently got his master's degree from American University. His family is currently seeking refuge in a church in northern Gaza. Sayegh speaks candidly about the war, growing up as a Christian in Gaza, life under Hamas, why they are an obstacle for peace and the daily realities for Palestinians. At the same time, he talks about what he learned when he met Israelis for the first time, the empathy he gained, but also how he believes Israeli government policies have strengthened Hamas and worsened the conflict.  He recently founded a grassroots organization, the Agora Initiative, partnering with an Israeli to focus on long-term solutions to the conflict.
