9: Rohingya Resettlement
Listen now
Description
Imagine starting a new life in a country several thousand kilometres away. What about learning the language, culture or customs? Will I be accepted? These are the kinds of concerns facing refugees relocating under the UNHCR resettlement programme. For this episode we’re going to explore this mechanism and talk to resettled Rohingya communities and those calling for an increase in the program. UNHCR has resettled up to 207,000 Rohingya from the Bangladesh refugee camps, so far. In the current climate, is resettlement the answer?
