“I do enjoy this podcast. Laura and Emma are smart women that get important conversations started. With that being said, I found some of the comments on the podcast about choice to be very hurtful. Laura made a comment that women should be a certain age before they are allowed to have children. I’m 22 and a mom and I already feel as though everything I do is criticized much more than a mom in her thirties. I work hard, going to nursing school, working, and breastfeeding; it’s a lot but I do it for my daughter. Us younger moms are under a lot more scrutiny than women at an age society has deemed appropriate for motherhood; it’s a problem and it’s hurtful. We do everything we can for our children, often times without the privilege of nanny’s and babysitters. I just think the podcast could be more effective if Laura and Emma recognized their privilege. I don’t think finical stability and age are deciding factors in if someone is a good mother or not. As women we gotta support each other, no matter age, race, size, or socioeconomic status. I know there was no malicious intent. With that being said, I’m going to keep listening because I do think Laura and Emma are forward thinking and entertaining.”
