Midori House was better
The Late Edition isn’t bad, but it’s no Midori House, the previous iteration of this program format. Unlike MH, TLE isn’t very unique and is more of a rehash of the day’s programming. It also is tight when it comes to guests, having its presenters and staff offer “insight”. Often this will lead to situations where, for example, a Monocle staff member who primarily covers entertainment or food will be asked to analyze US politics. This is where the show is a bit of a waste. It has its moments though, and the eclectic global stories are often interesting.

I love Midori House. In 30 minutes I get a sense of what is going on in different regions around the globe, plus some general interest stories. All in a casually witty format which makes it all the more delightful to listen to.
