“I enjoy the format of the show. Derek does a great job handling the calls. I’m grateful the podcast exists. I’d give it 5 stars if the accompanying audio effects were left out (or at least diminished significantly) when a caller submits their story. These audio effects befuddle the content. It is noticeable they don’t seem to accompany Derek’s commentary regarding the call or Derek’s reading of a submission (as frequently ). The audio effects feel like a cheap gimmick Derek read about in a book titled “How to make your listeners feel like the story they are hearing is spooky”. Also, I’m guessing Derek could produce the show a bit more efficiently if this gimmick was left alone. Derek, please. Please make the show with out the audio effects during a call. Perhaps at first it’d feel like something is missing. Think about this… If one has a good coffee bean one doesn’t need sugar and cream. Sure, some people like their sugar and cream. These people don’t care about coffee. Just sayin.”
