Thorough reporting and excellent discussions
Thank you for such an in-depth look at the young man’s life. As a mother this story broke my heart listening to the first season. This new, second season, is blowing me away. As a junior in college I studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria and our director gave us ample warnings especially when traveling the Mediterranean, cautioned us about safety, and gave us phrases to use to make it clear we were not interested- especially in Italian. That was in 1989!!! It saddens me to know that so many young women have not been protected from this man and that so many institutions both here and in Spain did not have their best interest in mind. This is completely unacceptable! Kudos to all these brave woman for not giving up on trying to sound the alarm in general about these programs and their responsibilities to students and especially with regard to this man. You will save so many young women from being hurt or even killed and that will be worth it in the end. To know that you didn’t just sit back, but actually stopped him. Thank you so much WBEZ for putting together this story it needs to be told and a light shined on it! (I agree the disclaimer doesn’t need to be made at the beginning of each episode that you should “start at the beginning of the season.” But you should certainly always warn people about its content.) 🙂 A+ keep up the good work and I hope this podcast catches on!
