“I ride a sport tourer as well (have crossed America 9 times!) and agree with Jeff Tyler, that leaning over the tank is far superior than sitting upright. When you’re leaning over the tank, your more aerodynamic and the upper body absorbs the shock of going over bumps but when you’re sitting upright your lower spine absorbs shock.
I will also say, riding in rain is more comfortable when you’re leaning forward than sitting upright and taking the shower, wind on your front side.”
