In this episode on Earth SciShow, MrEarthGuy dives into the history of radioactivity and its implications on geology. Radiometric dating is one of the most accurate techniques we have to date samples of the ancient Earth and measure its age. By using Uranium-238 and Lead-206 we are able to using isotopic ratios to determine how old a sample is. We have applied this technique to terrestrial bound crystals like Zircon, and more exotic samples from lunar rocks and meteorites.
