Detailed Research
I am impressed with the length these podcasters were willing to go in order to in order to provide insight on this unsolved crime. Living in Indiana throughout the majority of my life, this mystery was one of the indelible marks hard for residents to forget. I am, however, puzzled by their desire to virtue signal over the need to stay objective in light of their research. They state that Kevin Flemmonds to be a most unlikely candidate to have any knowledge of the events that evening because he was....black. They claim that because this was the early 70’s and racism was more prevalent, he would have feared getting pulled over by white cops and would have never put himself in that position. Yet, Kevin Flemmonds DID put himself in the position to face off against law enforcement on many occasions. He was arrested for drug dealing, armed robbery, and was even arrested for accessory to murder. If he was willing to put himself in that position during these situations being a black man in a racist world (which was the case, definitely not denying this), why is this crime inexplicably different? It feels more like an opportunity to “subtly” enhance their own image in light of current events than stay objective. Maybe that’s why it stuck out so much for me; they did an exceptional job of gathering so much information on this crime, much more than I can say anyone else has done so far, and then sharply took a left turn away from this professionally objective course into personal opinion based on nothing other than how they feel about racism. To be transparent, I don’t feel Kevin Flemmonds is a suspect for many reasons outside of race, but to not expound on those valuable reasons and solely focus on the color of his skin is why I found myself only giving this three stars.
