I love true crime and listen to a lot of true crime podcasts, but I’d avoided listening to MFM for a long time, because I was put off by the name and the ‘comedy’ aspect, thinking that they would be making light of murder and be disrespectful. I’m glad I decided to give it a go because, while I do find they tread a fine line sometimes, I know their ultimate intention is not to be disrespectful but to share stories of things that happened to real people. They just do so in an honest manner, accepting that sometimes you have to find humour in the darkest places, but they never poke fun at the victims or minimise their experiences- quite the opposite. Karen and Georgia’s humour isn’t for everyone, and it took me a few episodes to really ‘get them’, but now it just feels like catching up with friends. It’s such easy listening. You won’t find their stories particularly well researched and full of detail, but they do share their stories in an entertaining way- although be prepared for many, many detours, opinions and anecdotes throughout each of their stories.

The hosts are fatuous, shallow, morbid, witty, articulate, foul-mouthed, gentle, probably high and totally delightful. This isn't a true crime podcast as such -- it's more like two friends celebrating their fascination with the genre, gossiping, getting sidetracked, and pouring over the...Read full review »
