16. Stuart Buchanan - My Movie DNA
Listen now
Description
In episode 16, Johnny talks to Stuart Buchanan, an award-winning artist born and raised in Glasgow.  Today, Stuart lives in Catterline, an old fishing village in the North East of Scotland, where he paints from his studio overlooking the North Sea.  Stuart’s work is quite well known in the British art scene, so a quick Google search will show you some great examples of his style - lots of peaceful, solitary figures standing in serene and bewitching landscapes. Go and have a look! This conversation was recorded online in late August of 2023. We cover Star Wars, Quentin Tarantino and the Rocky films, we talk at length about two gems of British film history - Local Hero and Withnail And I - and we discuss the excitement of putting on an impromptu arts festival in the former Soviet state of Georgia with Vanessa Redgrave. Thanks to James Van As who wrote and performed the brilliant music, (check out James' Loco Looper game) and to Willow Van As who designed the amazing artwork and provided general podcast support.
