Thank you for bringing this issue to light. More needs to be done.

Very good podcast. Personally note- I have had so many similar traumatic events happen - this has been very helpful to reflect and also realize I did almost all of the productive things I could being so young with basically no guidance. This was before the me too movement. Thank you for doing...Read full review »

This is a really brave story, Virginia and your sister sounds amazing and incredible. My only feedback is that I am up to episode four and 11 minutes in , and it’s still a recap of the last four episodes. It’s making me a little frustrated. I’m skipping forward. I’ve heard it all before. It...Read full review »

While Alex’s story is heartbreaking and I truly feel for Virginia I am so frustrated. 1.) Constantly going over and over the same information. 2. Could have been way shorter. 3.) I feel no sympathy for Alex and Virginia’s Mum. She knew that he was abusing the girls and did nothing. Same with...Read full review »

I wonder if while they edit this podcast they didn’t hear how repetitive it was. She kept mentioning the same things over and over again. I couldn’t finish listening

?!
Frustrating to listen to. The step grandfather groped/ assaulted their mother yet the mother trusted him with her own children? Infuriating. Also way too repetitive, tell the story again somewhere else Virginia, The Australian did you dirty with the repetition.

the podcast has way too much recap and is yet another podcast by the australian i had to quit listening to because it was so annoying. cut out all the never ending recaps and repeated audio and produce a shorter podcast and i would have been able to listen. such a shame because it's a very...Read full review »

Shame the father passed early, though I wonder if this was preventable. Really need to re-assess her mums awful clueless perspective and see her as an accomplice albeit out of cluelessness

I can appreciate the work a sister has gone into to find the truth, but it could have been told in a much more succinct manner. While the topic is so important, I had to stop listening because I got the gist of the story and couldn’t keep listening.

An important story, but I had to stop listening as the repetition was far, far too much.

This podcast is so important. The more we talk openly and teach the better! Thank you for this. Progress is progress. And I do think some day things will be different for survivors if we stand together and support survivors and help them speak their truth. Thank you for this podcast.

So much devastation in one family and community.. this is a beautiful homage to Alex’s life. The only reason I gave 3 stars is the terrible inclusion of Samantha Armitage in the adds section.. I actually recall starting this series previously and hearing Armitage forced me to switch off.. I...Read full review »

Thanks for being so brave. I believe so many people can learn from this podcast and possibly avoid the worse.

As others have said, this podcast is let down by its production. So repetitive! It starts to feel as though they are milking the details and sensationalizing this story and, worse- padding it out to sell more ad space- rather than just telling it. No surprise from the Australian I guess. Hope...Read full review »

I’ll forever miss Alex. Such a beautiful smart soul, friend and the most amazing veterinarian I’ve come across. I appreciate everything that Alex did for me during her time with us. Thank you for telling us her’s and your story.

Excellent podcast. I am SO SICK of women explaining why they or someone they love didn't report assault tho. We have to stop doing that. If you do not understand the myriad of reasons a woman (or man) does not report then you are an unfeeling robot.Read full review »

I appreciate that this is a painful and difficult, important story, however the narrative is repetitive. The same phrases, the same sound bites, the same material is used over and over again, making this excruciatingly tedious. Edit this into four tight episodes and this would do the story way...Read full review »

This was a truly heartbreaking story. These stories do need to be told though. The thing that I didn’t enjoy was the recap at the beginning of each episode, it felt redundant. I also don’t like how the verbiage used minimizes the acts. “Intervened” with the children? No, it’s called rape and...Read full review »

What happened to you and your poor brave sister, and to your mum before you was devastating. I actually felt sick to my stomach but at the same time almost enraged at your seemingly lack of resentment towards your grandmother. People are judging this podcast as if Alex was at blame or just a story to tell. I found it outstanding and real. Even if she hadn’t committed suicide (strong possibility) the men still have to be punished. I apologise if those reviews hurt you Virginia

I listened to five episodes today while driving and spent a heap of time skipping through repeated content. Podcast listeners usually listen to a whole series - they don’t pick up something like this and start listening part-way through a series, like episode three or four. It’s insulting to the...Read full review »

I really wanted to like this podcast and I think it’s a really important story to tell, however it seemed poorly edited and constructed from a narrative point of view. This is one of the most painful and difficult podcasts I’ve listened to. It is however necessary, and certainly a testament to the courage of Victoria and her mum, that they have shared their painful experiences and their memories of Alex.

I wanted to persevere with this but it was just ridiculously repetitive. I feel like they were just fleshing it out for the sake of making more episodes
KymboCool73 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/01/22
So much of each episode is re-capping, I think the producers assumed either we wouldn’t be listening from the beginning or that we’re incapable of retaining any information. Either way I found myself fast-forwarding a lot..not great for any podcast but especially not one this tragic

Sorry I really want to keep listening but so much is repeated in each episode I have to stop. As another reviewer said, I kept thinking I was listening to an episode of already listened to.

Excellent podcast. Professional. Heartbreaking case. Shows the deep, harmful and wounding nature of childhood sexual abuse. As well as the multigenerational aspect that is sometimes present.

This is an important issue and like others, I applaud the courage of the sister and her family. But sometimes i feel like you have used the crying parts again and again. Such a strong woman to fight for the justice of others. This is an excellent podcast but I think it runs too scared of defamation proceedings. There would be little risk in revealing the name of the perpetrator- he’s hardly likely to sue and want it examined in court.
bogancardoons via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/07/22
This is an important story and subject matter but it is so very, very repetitive. So far, and I have persevered through 8 episodes, I feel like there was enough material for maybe 3 episodes. At least 1/2 of each episode is a repeat of previous episodes.
