Idea not fleshed out
It feels like this podcast had a good idea that just wasn’t fleshed out enough before production. It attempts to be kitschy and cute, but doesn’t quite pull it off. It seems confused about what it wants to be. The choice to not use the internet is interesting, but leads to a lot of time waisting filler, like calling around to book stores to prove if a book is popular, instead of just looking up the sales records or having the author (who is the guest) ask their publisher. Overly low stakes mysteries seem to be chosen specifically so you don’t really care or notice that they’re not actually solved.

More reviews of Mystery Show
I was really excited for the show and the premise. I’ll be honest, it’s really disappinting.

This is to counter-balance the 1⭐️ review from the hater. Enjoyed everything from Gimlet so far. Can't wait for Mystery Show!Read full review »

Her delivery is adorable and hilarious, and the first story was very simple but still delightful to listen to. I look forward to more episodes.
