And doing so seems to really bring to life the original purpose of these creatures in a way that other retellings seem to miss. I have nothing against a good academic analysis, but it's also healthy to have that balanced with a good shot of adrenaline now and then. And the host of this show seems to have just the right amount of writing prowess to pull it off (not to mention that she knows not to draw the experience out for too long, as this kind of thing might become tedious if it lasted much longer than 30 minutes). Anyway, it's just a great experience all around.
