Our guest this episode of N the Queue is Ron and Arlene Kein. Ron Klein is a man of many visions and has contributed to most of the every day items used today by billions of people. He invented the Credit Card Validation System and then ultimately the magnetic strips on the back of the credit cards and in some cases, on the back of ID cards. Ron then solved an issue with teleprinters with Western Union. He purchased them for pennies on the dollar. The problem was transporting them to various places for use since they were very heavy. After much research, he discovered that the teleprinters contained gold and chromium, both in large demand and worth a lot of money. He was able to break down the machines and use them in various ways, including scrap metal. In 1983, Ron then became involved with the New York Stock Exchange in helping them by developing a system that gave them up to the minute bond quotation and trade information for them and for other financial institutions. Ron is definitely a man of many talents. Ron's wife, Arlene, is a talented writer, having documented his work in a biography and also writing a book I Never Wanted to Say Goodbye, a collection of poems to comfort those who lost a loved pet. Arlene is a big animal advocate having served on the board of Morris Animal Foundation since 1991.
