Cathie Wood of ARK Invest is predicting trillions of dollars in profits for these five technology niches: Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Multiomics, Energy Storage, and Robotics. Today we'll analyze these technologies as well as comment on the stocks Cathie has picked to represent these technologies. We need to preface this information with the fact that ARK Invest primarily offers actively managed funds, and only 5% of active managers can actually outperform a benchmark. Cathie has a...

AbCellera stock was a pandemic darling, with their first day of trading seeing a valuation of nearly $13 billion. The AI drug discovery stock - which we happen to like - has now tumbled over 90%, leaving investors wondering whether it's time to buy. We see a lot of appeal in a platform that can reduce the time it takes to bring drugs to market, especially one that was tested and proven in the times of the 'Rona. But why do they now only have six noteworthy molecules in the clinic? And why...

Reddit stock began trading last Thursday under the ticker RDDT. Some are calling $RDDT an AI stock since the company plans to begin licensing its data for the use of large language model training. Their popular "upvote" mechanic acts as a community notes function to help validate data. This is certainly interesting, and while we don't find Reddit to be terribly overvalued based on our simple valuation ratio, we have some concerns around how the platform plans to monetize its users. With 50%...

Stop losses sound ideal. Buy a stock and limit your downside to whatever amount you're comfortable with - great! Not so much. Stop loss orders should really be called "realize loss" orders as they lock in your losses leaving you to guess when and how to get back in. And if you don't want to get back in, then why did you even buy the stock to begin with? Stop loss orders simply have no place in the portfolio of a long-term investor, someone who wants to build wealth over the next few decades...

Buying TSLA stock? You'll want to watch this first. We construct an actual price target for Tesla - not just the usual "going to 10x, get in now!" type of rubbish that you see on Twitter. We look at Tesla's historical valuation compared to its current market cap with today's revenues and shares outstanding to determine where we'd be buyers of TSLA shares. We also talk about some of the risks surrounding Tesla stock, like the great almighty Elon Musk himself. It's a double-edged sword as...

Blockchain is one of the many disruptive technologies we cover. It's also the only one with an annual "Crime Report". As of March 2024, the biggest application of blockchain technology, Bitcoin, was hitting new highs. With the rise of bitcoin price comes inevitable hype for "blockchain stocks". MicroStrategy MSTR is one such stock. Though the company's actual business is an enterprise analytics software platform that hasn't managed to grow, MicroStrategy is considered a blockchain stock due...

Recursion stock has seen quite a bit of hype after NVIDIA announced an ownership stake in the AI drug discovery firm last summer. We happen to like RXRX stock, so we decided to take a look under the hood and see if the company is living up to the hype. What we uncovered is a very capital-intensive business model that has so far been funded by injections from pharma partners like Roche, or by dilution of shareholders in the form of stock offerings. With their current cash balance and burn...

AI stocks are all anyone can talk about. The very definition of the term "AI stock" has shifted so much that we're apparently calling Meta and Cloudflare "AI stocks" now. Our mission today is to look at the artificial intelligence hype and determine whether we're in the midst of another dot-com-type bubble, or whether it's actually different this time. To do that, we need to separate the financials from the hype. Remember, we invest in companies, not stocks. Companies like Soundhound.ai...

So, what happens when that demand dries up? Will NVDA stock crash? The trough of disillusionment. This is where interest wanes as experiments and implementations fail to deliver. At a certain point, the market is likely to realize that it's vastly overestimated the potential of generative AI... according to Gartner. Do you...

Brainchip stock is full of promise, but lacks execution. The company has achieved roughly $10 million in total revenue over the past decade. That's how much revenue we expect a company to make in a single year before we'd even begin to take a look at it. On top of that, Brainchip exhibits all the red flags we look out for, including press release overload and extensive "customers" that don't account for any meaningful revenue. Correct. JEPI's fund managers don't log into Robinhood and sell covered calls all day. An ETF with $32 billion in assets needs to do things differently which is why they use ELNs to...
