“I love science podcasts—particularly when they’re about space— and I was happy to hear about this one. I’ve tried two and a bit episodes but I can’t listen to it.
There is background noise throughout each episode. The kind of soundscape you’d hear in a planetarium. But in a planetarium they turn it off when someone is talking. In the podcast, they play it along with the presenters and it’s too loud and too busy to tune out.
Do the producers think that the presenters are boring and need to be supplemented with space music? They’re not! We came here because we *like* to hear people talk about space. Please just let us listen to them. The accompanying noise is distracting and annoying.
I’ll delete the podcast for now and try again in a few months. Hopefully they’ll ditch the background noise. Or maybe they can make a special feed for people with adhd, autism or other neurodivergences associated with sensory issues? Same content minus the noise.”
