Back in September 2020 65 world leaders came together to endorse the Leaders’ Pledge for Nature, committing to reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 for sustainable development. In November 2021, following the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, announced the endorsement of the Leader's Pledge. And in January 2022, the UAE Cabinet formalised the endorsement, agreeing that the country would join the Leaders' Pledge for Nature, an international effort to boost the green agenda.
