Colossae was a city caught in the crosshairs of economic stagnation, political strife, and cultural confusion. This small gathering of Christians found themselves lost in the midst of religious fundamentalism and pagan rituals. They were threatened, uncertain, disoriented, and trying to find their way in this new life Jesus had given them. And so Paul takes them to the heights, to a vantage point above it all… We're working our way through Colossians as a community, praying that Paul's letter illuminates to us what it did for the church in Colossae . Jesus is above it all.
