“Very insightful and informative episode on the impact of the prevent agenda on British Muslim school children by Sofia Rehman.
As a social worker I have at times come across the discriminatory way in which prevent can be used. I very much agree that there is little training for staff in schools and due to the agenda being framed within the discourse of safeguarding it becomes very difficult to challenge.
What may be seen as innocent for any other child becomes viewed as radical for a Muslim child and this needs to be highlighted and challenged to stop future stigma and trauma.
Very useful episode in understanding the impact and what can be done to address the issues.
