Amazing Standard Set For Scouting
Nobody does it better than DJ and Bucky. As an avid football fan and amateur scout these guys and their guests have taught me a lot about the game. So fellas here’s my off-season topic request: I was thinking maybe DJ and Bucky could spend an entire Pod in the off-season and focus on scouting offensive linemen. Here are some questions I have: When scouting what are the factors in projecting OL from college to pro with the corresponding NFL positions along the line? Such as what traits say make a guard or tackle in college be able to transition to a another position along the OL in the NFL or vice versa? When scouting middle/late round OL players most are likely back ups or developmental players right? So in other words they have to be able to play multiple spots. What traits tell you a player can play two or more positions along the OL. Conversely what tells you this guy can only play RT for example? Lastly what’s the difference between zone and man blocking schemes besides the obvious? Maybe even bring in a third person guest, ex lineman or long time OL scout/coach that could help explain how they evaluate lineman in the draft. Appreciate your consideration fellas and please keep up the good work. Thx! -Scott from Reno.
