I was intrigued by the topic for this season and thought this would be right up my alley, but I won’t be subscribing. This episode purported to examine how Jamestown was a utopia for some but not others, but completely ignored slavery. The host referred to Jamestown as a “foundational myth” of the US and lamented that it has been ignored relative to Plymouth, even ascribing this in part to the north winning the civil war - yet she did not mention it was the first place enslaved people were brought in the colonies. Similarly, to say Jamestown eventually became “self-sufficient” while ignoring that it exploited enslaved people is shockingly ignorant.

The podcast is so far comprised of really old examples. Surely there are more relevant, modern communities that would provide listeners more educational benefit.
