“99% Percent Invisible and Backstory are two of my favorite podcasts. If you like either or both of those, you’ll like this as well. I like everything Avery Trufelman has done, and this is no exception. I was surprised to see the low rating here and almost didn’t listen, but then I read the reviews and realized people who left bad reviews thought the angle was too “liberal”. I didn’t find that at all - I thought it was more than fair, and that she told all sides of the story. Some of the rage (no joke - go read them) in the 1 star reviews seems to be that Avery took the time to tell the whole story, including (but not limited to!) the difficult failures and mistakes in sometimes idolized heritage. That’s what I’m looking for in podcasts that touch on history - I don’t need someone to read a high school history textbook to me. If you feel similarly, you’ll enjoy this podcast.”
