Fantastically insightful and packed with real world advice
Having spent the last few months bingeing this podcast from the beginning I thought it was high time I posted a review. I’m a senior manager in a medium engineering business and whilst I find that the content in this podcast is geared towards businesses that operate on a much larger scale I have been able to relate to the described situations and learn from the guidance offered. The short episodes make it easy to find time for, and the content is produced and put together in a way that is easily digestible. I wasn’t too keen on the recent live mentoring or interview episodes, finding that I didn’t relate too well to them based on where I am in my career, but it’s good to know they’re there should my mindset/situation change. Marty and Em have done (and continue to do) a great job with this podcast, it’s a fantastic resource, and one that I look forward to each week, thanks guys! (Cheeky request) On a future episode it’d be great to hear some advice for smaller operations with limited resource available; how do you lead a “team” of 1 (especially if that person has key skills that can’t easily be replaced, but isn’t necessarily performing well enough!), and what’s the best strategy for managing workload when an employee is split between multiple roles?

There’s a lot of advice about leadership from people who mean well but have never led a substantial organisation. That’s the difference with this podcast. This guy has been a successful CEO and you can hear that in everything he says. Well worth your time.

It is clear that Martin and Emma really understand their audience and work to meet their expectations. The episodes are well presented, to the point and extremely relevant. Often when listening to the episodes I think to myself “yep, I’ve done that mistake before!” Great podcast. Strongly recommend!
