“The first season of the show was fantastic. Since then, things have gotten a little too polished for my taste. I really liked the shaggier, more messy, more improvised episodes with guests who were surprised by the content and the format. Since this has become a destination podcast, with more prominent guests who know what to expect and who interact with the host in predictable ways, some of the joy has been sucked out of it. The host is more polished and well-rehearsed now, which is less fun for the listener. Also the stories in season 1 were bonkers; nothing in the current season measures up to renegade fiancées stealing jewelry or messy lesbian recreational sports teams like in season one. Oh well. Such is the way of things. Still pretty fun though.”
