Salem’s Lot (1979)
Your review while thoughtful and in depth is way off. I realize it was a split decision one recommend and the other not recommend but this is simply one of the best King books put to movie and a very good horror movie in its own right. Even constrained by a made for tv budget, and the 70’s prime time censorship Hooper managed to get it done the old fashion way through rising tension and atmosphere. If Chain beats you over the head with graphic violence Salem’s Lot intrigues and makes you wait for the conclusion. I vividly remember watching this air and sleeping in my brother’s room after the cliffhanger part one but as right back the next week. My question for you is what vampire flick in a modern setting from this era(10 years on either side of 79) is better? They’re either period pieces Langella’s Dracula. Or they’re spoofs.
