In this episode, Adrianne sits down with nurse and former co-worker Macy Hall. 2020 has thrown Macy a number of challenges. One of those challenges was being reassigned from her outpatient clinic job to her hospital’s emergency COVID ICU. Though Macy has previous relevant bedside experience, it’s been a while and it’s been a challenge to re-acclimate to the world of acute care. Macy and Adrianne talk about things like: - How Macy was called back to the bedside - What this “new” ICU has been like and the acuity of her COVID+ patients - Role anxiety and how she’s making it work - The difference between COVID ICU patients and chronically ill respiratory patients - The pros and cons of team nursing - Being a COVID nurse with young kids at home - Challenges for leadership - Self-care and the benefits of counseling Thanks to Macy for being such an open book about her experiences during this pandemic.
