“There are two fundamental problems with Odd Ball that for me made it a bad use of time. First, it follows the speculative meanderings of a researcher who does not yet understand the story’s outcome. That’s fine as a method of research, but it’s profoundly inconsiderate of the listener as a form of storytelling. It means much of the the content turns out to have no meaning or importance and would have been edited out by an editor trying to tell a coherent story. Second, and this is where I actively resent the time spent: there is no interesting conclusion. Just none. This is the first time I’ve sought out the opportunity to express frustration about a serial podcast.”
