“I think the show has good intent and I understand how many people would like this polished feel-good format with no rough edges but for me it doesn’t work. All the guests are amazing and the very best, Sam is always there to offer up a pat on the back for how well they did this or that and never goes beyond the strictly approved PR line (this I mean figuratively, I’m not claiming I know how the boundaries od the interviews are negotiated and framed), always leaving us with only the best features of the interviewed artists. And like all candy, that leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. I feel the program would benefit from losing glorification of the guests in the intro and at the end. But anyways, I’m glad this think exists and other people enjoy it, I think that’s what matters.”
