Love the BTS but the tone of the episodes is too consistent.
I grew up with this show and will listen to whatever they release. However, as many have pointed out already, the tone and banter between Jenna and Angela is too happy-go-lucky, too bubbly, and too OMG-NO-WAY-THIS-IS-SO-COOL or THESE-PEOPLE-ARE-MY-FAMILY and THESE-EXPERIENCES-DEFINED-MY-CAREER. I think all of these things are okay, but maybe pull back a little? Even when guests are invited, everything kind of revolves around these topics tonally, and all of it feels forced. I love digressions, because that’s where the hosts step outside of this tone and approach to the episode, and I actually appreciate that. It does kind of have a high school conversation vibe going. I guess these hosts aren’t going to drive the most nuanced conversation around this show, and it might be a signal we need another host or person to draw out more interesting topics and ask more interesting questions. These dial in of cast members and crews are not really given enough realm to share their experiences, and almost feel like charicatures because of the line of questioning by the hosts. Anyways, I’m just a fan. I will keep listening. But I think in these reviews there are valid points about the hosts. I think the show is still figuring out what it wants to be, and I think all the elements are here to more fully come into itself.
