“...with a fascinating and deeply informed perspective on the real meaning of education. After our son ran into the buzzsaw of special education in kindergarten in 2019, this podcast (and Blake’s book for parents) utterly transformed the landscape of what we saw to be possible for him—and even for our “typical” daughter—outside the increasingly soul-crushing world of industrial schooling. Blake’s guests are uniformly thoughtful and knowledgeable. Some are serious, some hilarious. Some disagree with others. Some are academic luminaries. Blake interviews them all with humor and rigor, so you get a good feel for how strong the arguments and evidence really are against our default idea of schooling. This podcast is a wonderful eye-opener for anyone interested in education, but the implications of this critique for “learning disabled” young people are even more profound, and I’d really like to see Blake interview more people who can critique special education in particular.”
