Hoping it gets better?
I’m only 3 episodes in, so perhaps this gets better later, but this is not what I expected. The first episode is actually excellent although I’m not sure why they chose to have a British man read as Traci? Nonetheless, Traci tells her story, and it’s great. But then, the hosts make some unusual narrative choices. There’s even a point where someone implies that a teenage girl could “date” her stepfather, which is, yeah, not possible. It feels like they’re trying to prove that Traci was a manipulative sex fiend somehow able to consent and make choices at 15, instead of a child who had endured years of sexual abuse. Truly disgusting. I guess if you just want to know more about the world of 80’s porn, and don’t mind hearing people talk about how hot it was to watch a teenager have sex, then this is for you. If you’re a fan of Traci, just listen to her audiobook instead.

I love Traci, and I greatly appreciate Ashley West and the Research that goes into the Rialto Report. I enjoy hearing the colorful history about the industry’s “golden age”. That said, I’ve always thought the site turned a weirdly blind eye to the indiscretions of a mob-run industry that...Read full review »
