In poor taste
When did victim blaming become a thing or is just okay in cases where the victim’s abuse led her into porn? Whatever the case, the face that this is being done at all is a shame, but the fact that the blaming is being done by a woman and she is all too happy to allow a man to pipe right in, is a disgrace and she should be ashamed of herself. It’s clear from the description of this podcast that she has made her mind up and is placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of Traci Lords. How ludicrous is it that these people think a 15 year old girl plotted to take down the porn industry to make herself famous. Traci had a horrific childhood marred by rape and molestation by people she trusted. The same guy who molested (her mother’s boyfriend) her was the guy who took her to Jim South’s modeling agency. The same Jim South who this podcast makes sound like a regular Mr. Rogers or Captain Kangaroo. Everyone says Traci lied about him in the book, yet he tricked Christy Canyon into doing hardcore video. He’s also supposed to be anti-drugs and everyone says “oh he would get on us if we ever did drugs,” but the next interview someone is talking about all of them doing drugs. As for Tom Byron, I’m wondering about what he says about picking Traci up in Redondo Beach. Traci ran away from Redondo, which is where her mom lived. How could he possibly have picked her up there when she was clearly living elsewhere? The Traci Lords “case” broke 34 years this very month. It’s time for these people to own up to their own mistakes and stop blaming a sad broken little girl for what are their own failings. They can’t let it go though, because what would they even have to say that anyone would listen to?

The fact is the adult film industry profited from manipulating countless underage actors and models. To present this story as “industry’s” chance to tell their side of the story is gross. The story you should be presenting is a critical look at the government agencies that allowed this to go in...Read full review »
