Thirty years of sheer joy
I first saw and heard Mary Chapin at the 1991 CMA awards in Nashville. It was the year President George Bush attended. I had just been elected an International member of the Association and its meeting coincided with the awards ceremony. I had never heard of Mary but suddenly there she was, a young lively, blonde girl singing and dancing “Down at the Twist and Shout” for the President…and she was the star of the evening. My friend and Country music PR supremo Richard Wootton, took great delight in telling me the track was from her third album…and my wife and I were hooked. This new album, coming as it does during her wonderful Songs from Home performances is up there with her earlier works. And, to top it all, come these interviews which mirror and magnify my respect and love for the music and the modesty of a great artist. Thank you thank you thank you.

Completely in love with this conversation. My spirit was resurrected today because of it.

MCC has always had such a profound way of tapping into the feelings and insecurities that unite us all and giving them voice. She makes us feel seen. She makes us feel known. And from those feelings she still finds the ray of light in the darkness that gives hope. Can’t wait to hear the new music.
