A great adventure that is creative, exciting and has unexpected twists. I’ve been hooked from the second episode and I’m listening to it every day now.

Having finished 200 episodes of The Magnus Archives, I was very excited to try another program from Rusty Quill. Unfortunately there is nothing about this show that would suggest it's by the same people, because everything from the script to the voice acting to the direction they took with...Read full review »

I know there’s a genuine effort made here and hard work put into this. I really wanted to like it. I love the concept and I’m very sad to say this but… This is sooooo boring! I’ve listened to the first two episodes and two that were the most recent at the time of writing this review and I can’t...Read full review »

Most of the first season was awesome and I was hooked. When Monica showed up, I could only manage a couple more episodes. Flat and noticeable reading intonation. I listened to the recent S6 episode and found everything to be exactly the same. As other commenters have stated, doesn’t seem like...Read full review »

The narrator sounds like he’s reiterating the weekly shopping list .love the concept but passionless narration

I feel like no podcast creator has ever read reviews and made changes based on what listeners prefer or would like to see. It feels like reviewers just scream into the void and never get heard. What a waste of time and space. I’ll repeat what everyone else has said - I wanted to like the show so...Read full review »

I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately, the voice acting was pretty horrendous. Even worse was the constant swearing that made it almost impossible to listen to.

This story has such a fantastic premise, original and full of options for storylines to go just about anywhere. Unfortunately, it starts to lose its way and devolves into giggly “she’s so hot/he’s so dreamy” drivel pretty quickly. Such a bummer with all that potential.

The concept is great, and the story isn’t awful. Definitely sounds like it was written by a teenager. Also, everyone who has said that the acting is horrendous is actually being kind. It’s better just to read the transcripts for the story.

I like the story and thought they could do so much more with it, but with 7-1/2 minutes of ads on a 18 minute episode is too much! Also I think the actors could do so much better as they sound like they don’t want to be there and like they are reading from a book

I liked it at first. Couldn’t figure out what the clacking, smacking sounds were at first. Thought it was a keys clicking on a keyboard as if the character was typing his thoughts while at work. Nope. It’s the main character’s gums smacking with each and every word. I got through season 1 to see...Read full review »

The male lead/narrator reads as very autistic. For example, he has monotonic speech and is hyper fixated on historical disappearances. It’s great!

This story is so crazy. It’s like listening to a Diary and I was sucked in from the first episode. The writing is superb. I LOVE Chris Fletcher as Jake. His DRY SENSE OF HUMOUR and his delivery are perfect. I can’t wait to hear how many different doors Jake will go through on his trip to...Read full review »

The concept and script is good, the voice talent is… passable. The biggest issue is the horrible, inappropriate, out of place dance music that plays constantly. It’s a distraction and takes away from the story.

All the complaints must be from later seasons cause I’m only 3 episodes in and this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. Thank you!

I have loved the first seasons of Tanis and the Black Tapes, but there were so many loose ends just left hanging that I gave up. Osteum is tight, the writer sets things up, so all the breadcrumbs actually lead somewhere season after season. It is ambitious and entertaining. It was a little slow...Read full review »

The first season was Amazing ! It’s hypnotic. Calming and captivating. And tons of episodes which I love, enough to really get into. I’m in the high teens now and sticking with it. It’s eerie, and so entertaining. Monica seems as if she’s just reading her script but Jake is genuine. Enough so that he keeps me going. Loving this!

The storyline seemed promising but the acting is so, so bad. The sound quality is poor. The guy speaks like he’s eating the mic and the woman sounds like she used a tape recorder with full background hiss that cuts off when she’s not speaking. Awful. It was rated E, so I expected some language,...Read full review »

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find Ostium, huge fan of audio dramas and this ranks right up there with we’re alive, limetown, and earth collective.

I get the point of these episodes being short - mini and all - but I found it very distracting and hard to get into the storyline. I think it would have been better to release max every other week and have them be at least 5mins. Although longer would be ideal. The ads were longer than the actual...Read full review »

I really like the idea. It’s very original and would be really amazing if the acting wasn’t so over-the-top awful. I tried to keep going to find out what happens, but Omg it’s so bad.

Look, this is worth listening to in their background. It has interesting plot points. When one character is “recording” their thoughts, it’s pretty good, which is counterintuitive. Show don’t tell is a basic general writing principle. But, here, any time two characters interact, this podcast...Read full review »

So much potential gone to waste. Read the reviews but gave it a shot anyway, and was barely able to get through seven episodes. Decent story (although the Bay Area details are inaccurate). I like the idea of this podcast and then mood and atmosphere is pretty solid. The problem is in the execution and the writing. There’s a raw innocence to Ostium which continues throughout the first four seasons and never loses its effectiveness. The atmosphere vibrates between the loneliness of an early 90s PC adventure and the desperate cosmological terror of a new wave science fiction novel. In places it is so good you...Read full review »

It started pretty good. For being told in a very odd mix of audiobook and audio drama. And being written in the voice of a straight white man. Even the black lead lady has the same cadence ad the Whiteman. The romantic subplot feels SUPER forced. It’s a self insert. There’s no proper story arcs...Read full review »

I really wanted to like this. I think that the concept is really strong, and the first season was interesting enough for me to forgive this podcast’s problems. The story line started out fun. It gets a little wonky, but still an out-of-the box idea. The acting is pretty terrible, unfortunately-made me shake my head a little; there seems to be excessive f-bombs just to make the female character sound “tough”; and, of course because it was produced by...Read full review »

Just finished the first season and have begun the EMU series. Really enjoying it. Think the storylines are well written and well performed. Also given me the opportunity to look at some of the real life links/facts. So educational too! Thank you.

Excessive swearing adds nothing to the story and actually detracts from it. This is good, but could be so much better.

The over all idea is fantastic, mysterious and odd but the narrators monotone droll of a voice just makes me want to rip off my ears! I managed to get to episode three before I just couldn’t take anymore, sorry but not for me.

I have listened up to Season 4 and I have found this to be really enjoyable. I mean for me to stick to it, that is proof in the pudding. I am now sounding a bit like Dave/Steve the English character. I’m only on episode 10 so far, so bear with me. So far, I’m enjoying the basic premise and the storyline. The premise is interesting. The podcast has it’s moments, but more often I’m cringing. The writing and acting are subpar. It’s as if this was a rehearsal.
