Awesome Discussion
Our Body Politic’s episode on Voter Suppression efforts in Georgia (and beyond) gave listeners a unique window into several different perspectives on how our democracy is failing to uphold one of our most basic rights as citizens, our right to vote. Overall, this was an excellent discussion with important questions asked to highly knowledgeable guests. The discussion about a new constitutional convention was particularly impactful. It raised questions about how we can ever move forward as a country with a dependence on a document that was meant to keep people enslaved while ensuring white male landowners remained in power. Questions like these are not asked nearly enough in our political discourses and this episode provided a great forum to understand some of the deeper implications of our Constitution and voter suppression efforts in general without the typical distracting commentary. This episode refreshingly balanced this deeply concerning issue, with hopefulness for the future. What was presented to listeners was a kind of hopefulness that included conversations around the hard work that needs to be done going forward, but nonetheless, hopefulness that recognized how some of these issues have not just torn us apart, as much of the media suggests, but rather in many cases, brought us together. I am looking forward to next week’s episode.

I love this podcast, which I just discovered. It has interesting stories that I don’t hear elsewhere but that relate to the big news stories that dominate headlines. The personalities wash over me like a balm when I feel overwhelmed by events but want to stay connected.

Love the smart analysis. Came by after hearing Farai Chideya’s story on Into America. Thank you for exposing us to so many guests. I’m learning so much and enjoying listening from down in the Pacific. I only wish the views of the firmly blinkered Bertica Cabrera Morris a few episodes back were...Read full review »
