Description
Commemorating the 16th anniversary of 9/11, the hosts of Our Times with Scott and Nedra Ross revisit Scott's experiences at Ground Zero. Few journalists are also ordained ministers like Scott. His dual role as reporter and pastor served him well when he was permitted special credentialed access to Ground Zero on what became known to the 1st Responders simply as “the pile.” For more than twenty days, Scott filed special reports from the smoldering pit alongside the 1st Responders who waded through mangled steel and pulverized concrete tinged with cremated flesh. Often times, Scott’s fact collecting or interviews were combined with gut-wrenching ministry to and prayer with the 1stResponders that were pulling nothing but small body parts from the rubble. Firefighter Chaplain Bruce Porter joins the podcast to share his experiences on “the pile.”
