Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
My daughter who is 9 is still struggling with selective mutism and has done since she was 2/3. We live in NZ where there is very limited expert or experienced help or even knowledge on the subject. Your podcast has empowered me to make a plan of action and given me hope for the future. Listening to Chelsea talk is like hearing from my own daughter in the future! Your amazing Chelsea and a shining light for us :) It has helped me understand what is going on for her which has reduced some of my own anxiety and freed me of alot of the “mum guilt” that we so often internalize when we see our kids suffering. From one mum to another I want to honour Ann for doing an amazing job and I hope you will do an episode where Chelsea interviews you on what it was like to be a mum of a sm child because I think that’s important for parents to hear - its extremely difficult and even traumatising at times to be a parent watching your child suffering and not know how to help and sometimes knowing your making things worse! So Thankyou! Now to get an official diagnosis, the right therapy and to consider medication. We have already started our “breach behaviour” sticker chart which my daughter loves!
