“I woke up with 99% Invisible playing an episode from this podcast and I was hooked. I like the storytelling. I like the outtakes at the end. I like fact that the author is not opposed to ELDs. My gut reaction to the news of this change in the industry was, “welcome to the rest of the American workforce, CDLs.” If you worked with a computer, your employer can track/record/block your access and functionality. If you worked on the phone, every call gets recorded and monitored. I can go on and on (my god think of freight at sea or in the air and THAT level of monitoring/tracking!). While I already know that truckers will have to learn how to adapt, I look forward to hearing the story. Also, I hope the industry realizes that this is not to protect the driver. It’s best value is to protect the rest of the public, like me.”
