Description
A weekly shiur by Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, Rov of Anash in London, explores interesting Torah questions and halachic dilemmas. The following issues are discussed by Dayan Raskin in this week’s episode: 1) When making kiddush for a larger crowd, I’ve found it time consuming to pour wine into small cups for all those present. In some communities, wine is poured into many small cups before Kiddush, and after the leader concludes Kiddush, everyone else sips wine from their respective cups. Is that acceptable? [1] 2) I am a Giyores. My mother will be staying with us for a month. How can I address the problem of Bishul Akum? [2] 3) The local community commissioned the construction of an outdoor Menorah. The end-product has the outer branches standing shorter and the inner branches standing taller. May we use this Menorah? [3] 4) I’m recently married (in Europe). We settled in EY, where I have joined a Kollel, and have BH settled in. Now my wife’s grandfather passed away and she wishes to join the family at this time of mourning, for a few days. Am I obliged to join her? [4] 5) I have hired a space at a fair that is from Thursday to Monday. The organisers will be upset if I’m closed on Shabbos. I’m happy to forfeit the Shabbos returns. Is there a way that my non-Jewish worker can man the stall over Shabbos? [5] 6) Use of a crock-pot for Cholent: a) must the Cholent be somewhat edible before the onset of Shabbos; b) may I ladle out Cholent directly from the pot?[6] 7) May an electronically-heated jacket be worn on Shabbos?[7] 8) If one’s Tallis fell off totally, should he say a brocho when putting it back on?[8] 9) In our Chabad House, when giving an Aliya to a man who’s wearing just a shirt: should we encourage him to don a Tallis or a jacket?[9] 10) We have an accordion-door, hinged on the right. If the Mezuza is affixed to the doorframe, it will be more than a tefach away from the opening – where I walk.[10] Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9764852268 Index to previous Panorama Shiurim: Panorama Index 2 - Google Docs ________________________________________ [1] ראה שוע"ר סי' קצ ס"ה; סי' רעא סכ"ט-ל. והכי מסתבר, כי גם הכוס שביד המסובין נקרא כוס של ברכה. ומה שלא נהגו כן לכתחלה, אולי חששו שגם הכוסות שבידי השומעים – בכדי שיחשבו לכוס של ברכה - צריך שיחזיקו רביעית וכו'.
